Curious how Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons can support your collection, exhibitions or research – but not sure where to start, or how it works? This practical workshop presented by Wikimedia Australia introduces GLAM professionals to Wikipedia and other Wikimedia platforms, and how they can be used to support collections, research and public engagement.
When: Friday 13 February 2026, from 1.30-4.30pm
Where: Study Lab, Create Quarter, State Library Victoria, 328 Swanston Street, Melbourne
Participants will learn:
- how Wikipedia (and other Wiki platforms) works, including editing, sourcing and governance
- the role of Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata
- how GLAM organisations can contribute
- basic, hands-on editing skills.
No prior experience required – just curiosity and a willingness to get stuck in!
Workshop presented in partnership with SLV LAB and State Library Victoria.
