Join us for a day of open knowledge, collaboration and creativity 

Curious about how open knowledge can transform the way we share and access information? Whether you're a tech enthusiast, a cultural professional or simply passionate about learning, WikiFest is your chance to dive in and make a difference. 

Hosted by SLV LAB at State Library Victoria, in partnership with Wikimedia Australia, WikiFest is a hands-on, all-day workshop that brings together library staff, the Wikimedia community and GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums) colleagues from across Victoria. Together, we’ll explore the power of platforms like Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons to unlock knowledge and build tools that make it more accessible to everyone. 

What to expect:

• Explore open knowledge: Discover how Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons fuel global access to information. 
• Create and collaborate: Work solo or in teams to prototype tools, guides, or creative solutions in a one-day hack-style sprint. 
• Bridge Communities: Connect with people from diverse backgrounds - technical and non-technical - and share ideas that spark innovation. 

No coding experience? No problem. WikiFest welcomes participants of all skill levels. Whether you're a researcher, designer, coder, curator or just curious, your perspective is valuable. 

The day will wrap up with short presentations showcasing the projects developed. 

A detailed agenda will be emailed to you a few days before the event begins.

SLV LAB is State Library Victoria’s prototyping and innovation lab, where technology meets culture. As a GLAM Lab, we experiment with technology to open access to Library collections, data and spaces.
