Human-in-the-loop (HITL)
HYOO-muhn in thuh loop /ˌhjuːmən ɪn ðə luːp/
An approach where people actively guide, check or approve an AI system’s outputs. Humans might correct labels, review generated text, or decide when the system should stop. HITL helps improve quality and safety, especially in high-stakes or sensitive contexts such as public information, cultural collections or identity-related data.
